Community Announcements of the Week

23 January 2012

  • The first ever Data Journalism Awards (DJA) are now accepting submissions. The DJA competition is the first international contest recognising outstanding work in the field of data journalism worldwide. The DJA are open to staffers from media companies and non-profit organisations, as well as freelancers or individuals. The deadline for entries is 10 April 2012. Don't miss your chance to win EUR 45,000 in prizes. Sign up today! Also, don't forget to stay connected through the DJA Facebook page and through Twitter #dja
  • Community member Abid Azad has written a blog post entitled 'A Political Prey', which addresses the issue of student politics in Bangladesh and its declining reputation. He talks about the brutal murder of Zubair Ahmed, a fourth year student at Jahangirnagar University and the issues and repercussions that followed. If you are interested, it is worth the read.
  • Sanday Chongo has written a new post about the Wikipedia edit that 'killed' Zambian president, Michael Sata. The false post caused the Zambian government to strongly criticise online media. What do you think? Should the ability to edit within Wikipedia have more limits? Share your thoughts in the comment section below Sanday's post.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Community Manager, Hanna McLean, at any time. (Twitter: @HannaMcLean21)
