Dear media freedom experts, dear colleagues,
I am a PhD candidate from Germany working on global media freedom at the University of Hamburg. The aim of my research is to improve the measurement of media freedom in order to get more objective and realistic results about the situation of the media in a country. Therefore I am conducting the "Media Freedom Survey" among experts all over the world. Since you are important experts and your opinion crucial, I would like to ask you for your help: Please follow the link below and fill out the questionnaire. http://ww3.unipark.de/uc/hh_fak5_lschneider/a55d/ Spanish version of the survey: http://ww3.unipark.de/uc/hh_fak5_lschneider/98e3/
It takes you only 7 minutes, but for media freedom research it means a lot! Unfortunately, as a researcher I rely on the help of experts like you. So please forward the link to the survey to your colleagues and networks. I rely on your cooperation. Thank you very (very, very) much, I really appreciate your help! With best regards, Laura Schneider, M.A. Doktorandin der Graduate School Media and Communication Hamburg (GMaC) Stipendiatin der Rudolf-Augstein-Stiftung Mittelweg 177 20148 Hamburg Ph: +49 (0)40 413307 213 E-Mail: laura.schneider@uni-hamburg.de |

Thanks for sharing this :) I just noticed though that for some reason the link that you shared for the English version isn't working when I click on it. The Spanish one works fine. Could you try adding it again? Thanks!

Permalink Reply by Isabelle Summerson on July 12, 2012 at 15:15 Hi Laura,
I have just completed your survey, I though your questions were interesting and hope that your research will prove fruitful. One problem that I always have in my academic research when using press freedom as an indicator of other types of freedom, such as democracy or 'good governance', is that there is little agreement about the validity of the current indicators. So I hope you will share with us some of your conclusions.
Good luck!
Isabelle

thanks a lot for your participation and your feedback.
The strong (legitimate) critique of the existing measures is the background of my project, which motivates me to improve the whole methodology in order to get more valid and reliable results.
So I hope I can provide some alternatives as a result of my research.
Thanks a lot and all the best for you
