Expecially, I was thinking about  the concept of clear and objective journalistic information on one hand, and the easy possibility to retouch and to manipulate images, by photographers and journalists themselves on the other. According to this, and to the fact the modern society  is characterized by the massive presence of images, is it possible to use a photograph as a news itself, or the image will be always influenced by the need of show?

Many photojournalists, including myself, will always photograph subjects we are drawn to regardless of the news agenda. In my opinion, that's a difference between photojournalism and news photography. Meanwhile, some of us don't even like cropping a photograph. In the olden days before digital we even used to print photographs with the neg frame still showing precisely in order to show that the photograph hadn't been cropped let alone altered in any way (although yes, we would still dodge and burn). Not possible now, but I really don't even like cropping, preferring instead to compose in the viewfinder and leaving it at that...
often picture speaks more than any words ...
So true! Look at the photos of Japan after tsunami disaster!! Better than any article.
yes a still photograph still remains a key attraction for the readers/viewers and the modern video technology could not completely replace this genre. I started my reporting career at the age of 19 and after around ten years of experience i could not resist my temptation to learn photojournalism, which has added another dimension in my professional capabilities. I have seen spell binding photographs taken by the senior guys in my country and believe me some of them will drive you to a mystic world. I agree with what Onnik has mentioned about the sanctity of photojournalism as some of the photographs say what no words can grasp.
Hi Laura, I think it is a very good question and it all depend of Ethics, the person who is responsible to publish those pictures, etc. I prefer to think that Journalists have Ethics and that they respect it, but just in case anyone forgets it, then here is the reminder. On the other hand, enhancing pictures to get a more accurate view of the situation might be necessary in order to tell a history. In that case, even scientists may use those technics to provide us a better view of the world. I think, we have to analyse each case in a different way. I mean sometimes if the Journalist gets an amateur picture of very bad quality from an anonym source, the Journalist has the right and perhaps even the duty to check the accuracy of the  picture and also to check if if it is a real picture or not. Therefore manipulation in those cases are legitim and should be done whenever possible and within those limits. However, this is my personal oppinion.
yes ... photojournalism is very effective in the current era.
Every FB a/c holder has turned as photojournalist.

ETV.

yes photojournalism/photographs is intrestible when we are talking about news, i think news only can be only pictures when events are past known and also pictures remains historic and necessary to express past events  i hope photojournalism will give view every person.

interesting question. yes and no but it is heavily based upon content.

we live in a day and age whereby people have access to everything and everyone is a photographer, a photo retoucher and so forth. the one main aspect that sperates real photography or journalism in this case, from the rest is the images technical ability to capture a moment/ the story in the perfect moment.

everyone clicks but the best real journalistic images embody everything; as the photographer was in the right place, at the right time and was sensitive to the subject at hand. but the image itself, depending one content is not enough in many situations due to the access many people have to manipulation tools. Filming is at times a more anchoring source to consolidate worthy journalistic news. but again, its based upon content.

photo journalism is to shoot something which is enough than hundreds of words

Sign Language in Media, Communication & Journalism

If in Journalism, Media and Communication in general, one deals with freedom of expression, one has to be accessible to all and able to understand and communicate in all languages. Sign language is one of them and it is not only the language of the hearing impaired, it is a minority language of many people in every society of the world. It is also an important way to communicate in some of our world's societies as part of their culture.Although it is very important and for many people the only…See More
