I was recently inspired by Alex Roe's recent discussion on journalist/editor tech skills. This is a topic I would definitely like to know some more about.

I'd like to devise a survey to assess journalists' digital knowledge, and what's more I'd like this process to be collaborative.

The main areas I think need querying on include:

- Social media
- Social networks
- Website development and design
- Content Management Systems
- Analytics
- Search engine optimised marketing
- Buzzwords (i.e. current hot tools etc)

I would suggest the survey lists say 10 tools/networks/platforms/coding languages/etc in each of the above sections, with respondents ranking each on:

- Their technical ability
- How often they use it

Other info to ask for might include:

- Job title (select from a list)


I'd really appreciate feedback on this, general and specific ways to improve, etc. Maybe a shared Google doc would be a good way to do this?
