At The Age in Melbourne, Australia, we are exploring innovative ways of engaging with our growing audiences. We are entering a new age of

information access and dissemination.

Now it easy to publish in the web  ( an equivalent

of a printing press on their desks),but it is also important to

Is there a light in the tunnel? Sure there is.
In Sweden we have NO local journalists. If local is synonymous to community where the journalists live and work. Without being familiar with networks, and structures of local power, you simply can't do the job. I had just moved to the community when I 2001 started my local tv-station. It took me five good years to learn by doing.

So, the light I see comes from the enormous potential in ELM - Extremely Local Media… or whatever you call it. There are thousands and thousands of jobs all over Europe. Waiting for the trigger.

My career in short:
Camera assistent feature film
Cinematographer
Headhunted by Swedish television 1958
Started my prod.company 1961
Won some prizes: My company produced an Emmy award winner back in 1994 - "The Miracle of Man" with and about the Swedish photographer Lennart Nilsson.
Most important work has been and is developing of "very local media". To reach even what we tend to regard as "groups hard to reach" - like teenagers between 14 and 18.

The techniqueI skill I pick up as I go... Now working in Mac/FinalCutPro/PhotoShop for film- and tvproduction. iWeb for webbprod. and Scribe for layout/newsletters and such.

That is a cool bit of kit, if a little retro now! Any other journalists who have been in the career for a while got any other interesting pics?

How have you ensured you kept up with technological changes Bo? Have your learnt new equipment/tools formally, or just picked them up?
