Pakistan has suffered a lot during the US War on Terror. The tribal people including Balochs are considering the State their enemy. The insurgents, due to the strategic support to US lead NATO Forces, have made suicide attacks on our worship places. They have destroyed our innocent lives in revenge. US war has destabilized and threatened the geopolitical situation in the region which resulted in the industrial and economic set back to Pakistan. Pakistan and only Pakistan can combat the terrorism in the region and rehabilitate Afghanistan. We are suffering and struggling for the peace and stability of the planet. The World Community should recommend it and support Pakistan for the purpose.

For more than 40 years, Pakistan’s finest comedian and artiste, Moin Akhtar, performed the hardest task of all without ever getting tired. On April 22, this great actor, impersonator and comedian passed away due to cardiac arrest.

Playwright Anwar Maqsood worked with Moin Akhtar the most, yet he kept a low profile at the latter’s death. He remembers Akhtar as a lovely person, a great artiste and an amazing friend, “I had a lovely time with Moin Akhtar as we were friends for over 40 years — 32 of which we worked together. For the last seven and a half years, we performed together in Loose Talk and each week we came up with a new getup, different dialogues and a catchy scenario. Moin dazzled in each and every episode with his dialogue delivery and amazing portrayals.

Muslims have lot of problems while living in different cultures. Muslims shape their lives from the viewpoints of their beliefs. Being loving people they can adjust in each and every type of society they can mix up with the peoples of other cultures but up to the limits of their beliefs. For example they can wear every kind of clothings which are not repugnant to the principles of HIJAB. By virtue one should adopt the culture of the land he has immigrated but the host culture should not impose indecent demands on the guest or Muslim minorities.

Look at the www.slovackizavod.org.rs Its a web portal about Slovak culture in Vojvodina (Serbia). This portal includes the intercultural dialogue by promoting Vojvodinian Slovak culture in Slovak, Serbian and English language.

Little Intercultural story....

This is thestory of a man from the Far East who, afterhaving discussed a while with a Western friend, says to him: “And now, I have to let you because there is an important decision I need to take. And so I am going to heat a few tortoise shellsand watch the cracks to help me”. His Western friend wonders about how inconsistent it can be to behave like this instead of pondering over all the aspects of the issue, to evaluate their respective importance and then reach a logical and scientific decision.

But the oriental man answers to him: “Dear friend,I am sure you’ll agree with me when I say that the elements likely to influencea decision are almost infinite; and this without considering their respective weight. So, if you set about to make their inventory, you probably won’t have finished by the time you’ll need to take your decision. This means that you’ll have to stop arbitrarily in the midst of your thinking and, pressed by time,take a decision with your mind upset because you did not have enough time to evaluate properly the issue. Whereas I, sitting in silence in front of my tortoise shells, breathing quietly and absorbed in the contemplation of their cracks, I’ll be in the ideal conditions for my mind and my intuition to give me the best solution”.

@Mokor, well said when you indicated we must accept each other. however the difficulties in acceptance is what is provoking discrimination and so far as there are rich and poor and not too rich or poor, discrimination would continue. We however have to be looking at what we can do us journalists to minimize the trend-appreciating the nature, the environment, we would have gone a long way to reducing discrimination. Don't you agree with me?

Multiculturalism, hm, the earth is big enough to accommodate us all from whatever race. I think we need to search our minds and accept each other, irrespective of race, profession etc. Then we would have moved one step forward. Discrimination should be thrown into the trash can.

What then is the role of the media in promoting world peace? i have been thinking about this subject for number of years now still could not get answer to it. any opinion?
