
This is a role in the heart of Australia's most successful digital newsroom. The features producer works daily with the features editor to write, edit and publish the best possible stories in words, pictures and video. The features producer must be an excellent writer, a capable general journalist and someone at home with technical processes. The job also involves a great deal of liason with ACP magazines. It is expected that anyone in the ninemsn editorial team will be open to shift work as required, and look forward to roles outside their comfort zone.
Role and responsibilities
- Source and publish high-quality features content from content partners
- Liaise with content partners and manage relationship on a day-to-day basis
- Maintain assigned Feature sites at an appropriate level of timeliness and with an appropriate level of fresh content
- Be prepared to work across Features sites as assigned by the Features Editor
- Be prepared to work in other editorial teams as assigned by the Editor in Chief
- Originate story ideas in consultation with the Features Editor
- Write accurate and engaging stories and headlines
- Source video content
- Source and produce pictorial content
- Work with the Features Editor to ensure delivery of traffic to commercial sections and integrations
- Work on Commercial projects where required
- Contribute to the subediting process within your team, including editing the work of others and submitting all work for subediting
- Liaise and manage content contributors
- Source content contributors for new projects
- Be prepared to work early or late shifts as required by the Features Editor, including rostered weekends and public holidays if assigned
- Be prepared to be contacted out of hours in relation to site outages, breaking news content, and partner management
- Use analytical tools to track site and social network performance
- Update social networking sites relating to assigned brands
