The scope of this role is huge. Leading the creation and implementation of innovative media strategies, you'll be targeting a wide variety of people - from the general public to opinion formers and policymakers. You'll work on both on and offline campaigns, and you'll do it working with critical stakeholders across the organisation.
But you won't stop at shaping our long-term vision and keeping us on the cutting edge of digital media. As well as managing a team of 13 and playing an active role on key campaign committees, you'll advise senior management on every aspect of media strategy and risk. You'll also be expected to build strong relationships every step of the way. And while some of these will be internal, spanning the breadth of Oxfam GB and Oxfam International, a lot of your networking will involve engaging externally with journalists, editors and PR professionals. We've already got a strong media operation. Your challenge is to make it even stronger.
What we're looking for
A proven leader and talented people manager, you'll have strong negotiation, influencing and communication skills. You'll also have an impressive background delivering on and offline media strategy, preferably with high profile brands or institutions and the expert understanding of the UK and international media that goes with it. And as well as a strategic mindset and world-class planning skills, you'll bring us a well-developed ability to make informed judgements on major decisions. You will have a passion for what Oxfam does and understand the relationship between media and politics, and know how to manage it to achieve change.
