The Dallas Morning News has a paid, three-month data journalism internship available. We are looking for candidates who have an interest and some experience in data, either as part of their journalism curricula or via previous internships at a news organization. We also would consider motivated candidates with strong data and programming skills, even if they have no prior journalism experience.
As part of the DMN's Projects & Enterprise team, the intern will work on gathering, cleaning, analyzing and visualizing data for a variety of purposes, including newsroom resources, breaking news, investigations and interactive databases. The intern will have the opportunity to contribute regularly to the DMN Investigates blog.
Experience with any of the following is a plus: SQL, Excel formulas, programming, statistics, public records and writing.
