The UN is seeking a public information officer to take the lead in strategy, planning, development and implementation of complex communications campaigns at its Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
Job responsibilities include developing strategic partnerships with key constituencies to elicit support for the humanitarian advocacy objectives; serving as a spokesperson/principal liaison to media organizations, governmental bodies and national groups; and drafting material for UN newsletters, periodicals, reports and books.
For this post, fluency in English (both oral and written) is required, and knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable.
Applicants should have at least seven years of progressively responsible experience in public information, journalism, international relations, public administration or a related field. The successful candidate will also have international humanitarian experience, including field experience working in crisis countries or during disaster situations.
