The Voice of America Nairobi Bureau is looking for a new reporter to work out of their office in Kenya to cover news throughout the East Africa region. This is a great job for someone looking to get their start in international broadcasting or for seasoned reporters looking for a steady gig.

The job:

Duties will include filing regular radio reports on every considerable topic in the region including politics, economics, conflict, human rights and health. There will also be opportunities to produce television reports. No TV or Radio experience is necessary, but familiarity with putting together a video or audio package is a plus.

The requirements:

Candidates must be self-motivated and able to pitch stories on a regular basis and to take work as assigned. Some weekend work will be required. There will be opportunities to travel.

Interest, enthusiasm and a willingness to work hard (and meet deadlines) make up for a lack of experience.

is it still available?

Hello Ilona,

the official deadline for this job is November 16, but it has been removed from the original website, so it is possible they found a suitable candidate already.

Kind regards,

Martine
