Basics Parameters

Do not write on a topic already published, unless it is a response to specific issues in the previous work or can provide a different perspective on that topic.

Do not exceed the work count – especially for Opinion pieces – in which case the text could be cut substantially with potential loss to overall article.

Do not send unfinished or unedited work. When possible, try to include images in a separate file that you think would best accompany your work.

Subject Headings

Water

Water scarcity is a major global issue for the international community to combat in the 21st century. Contributions might address national and/or regional water policy from across the world, projects focused on improving water access or interviews with key policy actors and water experts. Revolve encourages contributions from young professionals. All submissions for Revolve Water, please contact: francesca@revolve-magazine.com

Energy

Revolving around sustainability and innovation, we provide insights into the latest in clean tech and highlight new projects – from pipelines to power plants to renewable. Revolve also partners with major international energy events to interview leading companies and to report on the most pressing issues in the energy sector. Contact: energy@revolve-magazine.com

Art

Revolve profiles new and emerging artists with a mix of text and images. In line with the international dimension of Revolve, we have profiled artists from India, Colombia, Belgium, Mexico, and more. Do not hesitate to recommend potential talent you may know: Revolve could be their first great break!

Politics

Contributions for current affairs should be timely as well as enduring. We prefer feature length essays or opinion-oriented articles – see word count below. The author should avoid being too polemical or overly controversial. We encourage constructive criticism to provide another view on the world than the mainstream media. Please avoid using the first person.

Views

This special photography section offer images the opportunity to tell the story, accompanied by concise and catchy captions. Photo essays vary between 10-15 images on a single topic, such as “Migrant Workers”, “The Other Family”, or a specific contemporary context that we consider needs greater international visibility, such as Libya or Syria.

Cities

For the first time in history, more humans now live in cities than in rural areas. Our city series highlights innovative initiatives in different cities around the world from sustainable buildings, to smart metering, to electric cars and environmental policies. We work with municipalities to ensure their city is promoted properly. Every issue features another city. Don’t hesitate to recommend yours! Contact: energy@revolve-magazine.com
