We are looking for an experienced journalist to be part of the GulfNews.com team as a Web News Editor.

You would have a solid knowledge of online journalism and the principles of writing for the web.

Your headline and news writing skills will be unsurpassed - as will be the ability to extract the angle of a story the GulfNews.com audience is most interested in.

The Web News Editor works closely with the Gulf News copy desk and Hub to ensure that stories originating from the print edition appear online in a timely manner, and that they get the appropriate level of visibility on the site.

We are particularly interested in candidates able to work across business, general news, sport and entertainment beats.

Skills Required: 

• You will have a minimum of five years experience as a journalist and editor, with experience of writing and editing for the Web.
• You'll be hungry to land exclusive stories on GulfNews.com, and know how to maximize an audience with strong headlines, a compelling story hook, good use of SEO techniques, and an eye on what works in social media to create a buzz.
• You will have experience of content management systems, and a solid understanding of audience driven analytics.
• You will have proven proofreading and sub-editing skills and an ability to write copy that is clear, concise and hard-hitting.
• You will be able to identify the most important stories - and commission and/or write copy to ensure we break the biggest stories first.
• You will have a strong interest in how news is being done across the Web, the ability to synthesize the most innovative and effective ideas to maintain GulfNews.com's position as the most attractive and visited English language news site in the Middle East.
