RC-East operational update | July 28

BAGRAM, Afghanistan (July 28, 2012) – Afghan and coalition forces
killed four insurgents, detained 15, located one weapons caches and
cleared 11 improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern
Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, July 27.

Ghazni Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely
cleared four IEDs, one in Ghazni District, one in Khogani District,
one in Andar district and one in Qarah Bagh District.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained an
insurgent in Gelan District. The detained suspect was transferred to a
base for questioning.

Khowst Province
Afghan National Army soldiers detained four insurgents during
engagements in Khowst District. The detained suspects were transferred
to a base for questioning.

Afghan Border Police and coalition forces found and safely cleared an
IED in Terezayi District.

Kunar Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained four
insurgents while investigating a weapons cache in Asadabad District.
The cache contained small arms and ammunition, grenades and IED making
materials. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for
questioning.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained five
insurgents during an engagement in Ghaziabad District. The detained
suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Logar Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely
cleared an IED in Pul-E Alam District.

Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces killed an insurgent
and wounded another during a small arms engagement in Pul-E Alam
District. The wounded insurgent was provided medical care and
transferred to a base for questioning.


Nangarhar Province
Afghan Border Police and coalition forces killed three insurgents
during a small arms engagement in La’L Pur District.

Paktika Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely
cleared an IED in Yosuf Khel District.

Wardak Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely
cleared four IEDs, one in Sayyidabad District and three in Jaghatu
District.
