HELMAND PROVINCE, Afghanistan - The Afghan National Army's 215th Corps
recently conducted cleanup operations in the Musa Qala and Gamsir
districts. In Musa Qala, these operations resulted in 4 insurgents
being killed and the discovery of a cache of munitions comprising 15
types of mine. The mines were safely disarmed in a secure area and no
longer pose a threat to local civilians. In the Gamsir district an
operation lasting 7 days resulted in the arrest of a suspicious
individual and capture of their weapon and munitions.

Also today, the Afghan National Army completed a partnered patrol with
coalition forces. Upon receiving a tip from a local national, the
security forces discovered a major cache of IED device components, along
with 200lb of homemade explosives and a rocket. All of the items found
were safely handed over to law enforcement professionals.
