MP wants journalists fined for mistakes - ABC News

(Australia) Federal Labor backbencher Steve Gibbons has called for fines for journalists who publish misleading or incorrect stories.

Mr Gibbons, the Member for Bendigo, told Parliament that people were losing faith in journalism and voiced concerns about the lack of accountability in the sector.

Burma abolishes media censorship - ABC News

MARK COLVIN: The Burmese government has announced the abolition of media censorship. The former military junta applied heavy censorship to newspapers, magazines and even song lyrics. But as part of the country's democratic reforms the press scrutiny board will be no more. The changes take effect from today.
