Balkans need better communication among media professionals

Hi,

Most of the countries in this region have inhabitants to fill up a middle sized European city. And half of that is TV audience. Finding reliable partners is also difficult because big companies usually don't have…

A new business model for newspapers: forget gadgets - think of articles as apps

I am tired of same old media headlines each time a new gadget comes out: "Is [insert new gadget] going to save old media/newspapers?" or "Is [insert new gadget] set to become a new business model for old media?". In the modern multi-gadget world, I don’t want to get all my… Continue

Whistleblogging as public service to government agencies in Russia

Today’s editorial in Russia’s financial daily Vedomosti  is about well-known bloggers that basically serve as citizen beacons by focusing on particular areas where the respective government agencies have been slow to act. All these bloggers are first of all activists that have dealt with the public service’s bureaucracy, incompetence, silence and blatant wrongdoing for many years.

The column mentions some of them together with functions of the…

Move fast to save South West Somalia

Major donors especially USA and UN must move fast and save the situation in South West Somalia where residents are facing food and water crisis. Without the quick intervention of international community, the situation is turning from worse to worst. My visit to the region yesterday found that NGO like International Community Empowerment and Pastoralists Education Programme (ICE-PEP) are doing a lot in the region , but is overwhelmed by the dire humanitarian situation.
