Azakhel Botanical Garden recognised internationally

VC Qibla says achievement result of untiring efforts

PESHAWAR (APP REPORT): Peshawar University`s Azakhel Botanical Garden has been certified and included in the elite list of international agenda for botanic garden in conservation. 
Botanic garden conservation international (BGCI) is an organization which works for the worldwide implementation of the international agenda in support of plant conservation, environmental awareness and sustainable development. University of Peshawar Centre of Plant Biodiversity commonly known as botanical garden is the only botanic garden in the country to have been included in the list. 
The centre works for the conservation of endangered plant species and grow them under specially conditioned environment needed for the growth of plants. 
The centre works on the local and global strategy for plant conservation. It also has a Quranic garden where plants mentioned in Holly Quran are conserved and nurtured.
Director Centre of Plant Biodiversity Prof. Dr. Abdur Rasheed met with the Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz on Friday and presented the award to him. 
Prof. Dr. Qibla Ayaz termed the achievement as a fruit of untiring efforts of director botanical garden and his team. He urged them to work with more dedication and contribute towards and greener world.
