DHAKA, Feb 13: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today offered her deepest sympathy to the mothers of slain journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Runi and assured them of taking all possible measures from the government to bring the killers to book as soon as possible.

The Prime Minister offered the sympathy when Sagar's mother Saleha Monir and Runi's mother Nurun Nahar Mirza along with couple's lone five-year old kid Mahir Sarwar Megh arrived at Gonobhaban here this evening to meet her.
A deep feeling of sadness descended in the hall room of the Gonobhaban as the mothers of the deceased journalists broke into tears when the Prime Minister held them in warm embrace for sometime and consoled them. At that time, the Prime Minister also became emotional.
"None in the world know better then me of losing parents," Sheikh Hasina said. She caressed Megh and gave him chocolates.
PM's special assistant on media Mahbubul Haque Shakil said the Prime Minister assured of taking all responsibilities of subsistence and education of Megh.
Unidentified miscreants killed Sagor, a news editor of Machhranga television channel and Runi, a senior reporter of ATN Bangla, at their city's Rajabazar residence in the early hours of Saturday, slaughtering them with knife and other locally made sharp weapon sending the whole nation to a wave of shock and agony.
Three brothers of Runi- Nowshad Alam Rajan, Nowsher Alam Roman and Nowjesh Alam Rimon, paternal uncle Abu Hasan Chowdhury, relatives Jabed Omar Belim Golla, and Roksana Jabed accompanied them.
Awami League advisory council member Amir Hossain Amu, MP, environment minister Dr Hasan Mahmud, state minister for law Advocate Quamrul Islam and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, MP, were present.
