The Acting Chief of Child Protection and Welfare Commission taking notice of the matter published in media by some local NGO stated that, CPWC is fully powered and backed by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and taking all the steps to protect the child at risk .

He further said that the commission is not only the implementing body but also playing a role of the policy level advisory body to the government on child related issues and legislations and that the rules of businesses are already prepared and will be presented before july  in a CSOs meeting for deliberation.

 He said the commission in just one year time has received and deal about 4000 cases ranging from child labour to harmful traditions, Corporal punishment, Violence of all kinds, Child Marriages and health issues , he further said that a girl named haseena d/o sahmsu rehamn under gone a heart surgery just two days back and her surgery costs the government about Rs: 120,000 he also said that 2 weeks back a child who was beaten up by his teacher from Dir lower has been given free treatment and the teacher has been suspended.

Ijaz khan further said the child Protection and welfare act 2010 comprehensively covering majority of the child related issues and now children are better protected under this act. He said that CPWC has established a child welfare fund and this will help the children in need.

 

He said CPWC welcomes the positive criticism because itwill polish the commission but he also said that the performance of the commission is better than any other organization working in the field of child protection he added that the provincial commissions and delegations of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan has visited the KPCPWC and appreciated the work here and promised to replicate this in their provinces.

Ijaz Khan said that commission has established eight fully equipped and functional Units in different districts such as Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Sawabi, Buner, Swat, Kohat and Abbottabad and installed a toll free number of 1121 for the public to contact the commission without any hindrances.

Ijaz khan further said that CPWC needs the cooperation of the Civil Society to come forward and strengthen the hands of CPWC so that the children can live better-off.
