General Dairy for giving death threats to bangladesh Prime Minister

DHAKA, April 24: A general diary (GD) was lodged yesterday for making death threats against Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, police said today.

President of Janonetri Parishad AB Siddique lodged the GD against Abidur Rahman Rana, a teacher of Mechanical Department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), with Shahbagh police, investigation officer of the GD, Biplob Kishore Shil, inspector (investigation), told newsmen.

In the GD, it was mentioned that Rana using facebook, threatened to shoot the PM dead, he said.

The complainant also submitted copies of news items in this regard published in two national dailies as evidence, Biplob also said.

"We filed a petition today with the court seeking a complete investigation into the matter," the inspector said, adding, "We
will collect necessary evidence after getting court permission and quiz the BUET teacher."

Shahbagh police wrote a letter to Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DMP) Benazir Ahmed requesting him to hand over the GD to Detective Branch (DB) for investigation, as they have training and equipment to investigate such cyber crimes.
