Intolerance and uncultured sporting skills have sent Tunisia national team packing out of AFCON games currently ongoing in Gabon-Equatorial Guinea. The Tunisia players’ uncultured sporting skills nearly marred the beauty of football when they turned rough on the pitch with their Ghanaian counterparts.
Many an African football fan who watched the match between the Black Stars of Ghana and their Tunisia side was amazed the characters and manners Tunisian players displayed during the second half of the game attracting one red card and many yellow cards.
Ghana managed tjrough John Mensah to score the first goal within 10 minutes, the Tunisian fought back strongly to equalized that put the game in stretching position after first half.
With so much anger for not scoring more, Tunisia players turned the football pitch into boxing ring, punching, butting, heading and pulling their colleagues with no provocation. Their intolerance worsened when the Black Stars through Dede Ayew who capitalized the mistake of the goalkeeper inability to grab the ball scored their second winning goal.
It was during this game that the difference between Ghanaians and Tunis became clear, Black Stars tolerated their playing colleagues probably because they are coming from a democratic country, their African brothers, lack discipline and tolerance to cope with the pain, shame and humiliation that go with losing a game. This clearly distinguished the two African countries, the attitudes of the Tunisia players during their encounter with Black Stars were shameful, embarrassing and humiliating to Africa states.
The Tunisian though out played the Black Stars, intolerance and uncultured sporting manners took them out of the games never to return until 2013 in South Africa if they qualified.
The team was very strong and skillful though but discipline and patience has not been deplored by the players that could have helped them carry the day. While they were intolerant, their Ghanaian counterparts, took advantage, and scored their winning goal.
These characters the players put up during the match were disgusting, uncalled for, unnecessary, uncultured, shameful, and embarrassing to Africans and FIFA/AFCON must be able to discipline the team never to put up such manners in the near future.
Meanwhile Black Stars of Ghana must be commended for being able to tolerate Tunisia players and refused to play along with them that could have marred totally the beauty of football. Until the quarter between these countries, AFCON games had been wonderfully interesting seeing Gabon, Libya, E. Guinea play very beautifully. The match which ended 2-1 against Tunisia has generated debate of whether there is need for discipline, tolerance, on the pitch rather winning the game.
