DHAKA, July 26: The journalists injured at the hands of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital internees have filed two cases and three general diaries against 150 of the hospital's staff.

The cases were filed at the Shahbag Police Station at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh's President Akhteruzzaman Lablu said.

The Surgery Department head Prof Shaheed Hossain, hospital's Deputy Director Mushfiqur Rahman, doctors Sudip Ranjan Deb, Nazmul Hakim Shaheen, Surajit Das, and intern doctors Jewel, Jahid, Pritom, Rosen and Lavlee are among those accused in the case.

Azimuddin Chowdhury Bulbul of ABC Radio and Shahadat Hossain of the daily Bhorer Kagoj are the complainants.

CRAB leaders accompanied the journalists who went to the Shahbag Police Station to file the cases.

CRAB Organising Secretary Zilani Milton said the copies of the case were given to Officer-in-Charge Sirajul Islam at around 10pm. He immediately went to discuss the matter with Ramna zone Deputy Commisioner Nurul Islam.

"At around 11.37pm he returned to the station and started recording the case," he added.

OC Sirajul Islam told reporters measures would be taken in line with law.
