Journalism in Israel and the Palestinian Territories is not an easy profession. I have left day-to-day journalism and work for a think tank, but I follow the local media closely, and had taught a course on "International Reporting" at a US university.

Journalists on both sides of the "Green Line" often face political, governmental, non-governmental, ideological, and social pressures that limit their freedom of movement, freedom to write, and even, their personal physical safety.

They are under tremendous pressure to present a "positive" spin on the news from their home territory. They face censorship - both overt and covert.

Journalism here is ideological; "objective" journalism is not practiced. In fact it is usually sneered at as being impossible or unworthy of being sought as a goal.

Hi Eliana. nice to meet you. I've been reading your blog posts. And I look forward to reading more. After a day of reporting court trials on a local scale, it is inspiring to read such insightful posts on a grand scale. Reiser du ofte til Norge fra Danmark? Jeg tenker å flytte til København neste år.

Dank you, Eliana mou.

You are right. Ime Danos kai mou arései poly elenica. You are very good at Danish. I only can read some Dutch. I am not sure of how to produce it. My Greek is onbly at a beginner's level.

If you have time (15 min) I also produced this little movie which will participate in a Serbian tourist film festival in September and a Portuguese festival next spring. Anyway it is a good initiative with the diversity, I'll go for that.

All the best

Michael

Hi Eliana,

I'm sorry our intercultural dialogue hasn't been moving into the right direction.  By the way, I couldn't find you on LinkedIn, Twitter or Facebook (you can easily find me there). That could have been a good first step towards professional communication and friendship.

Best regards,

Valery
